Design & Artwork for Theatre Set
Set design in theatre creates the physical environment where a story is performed, establishing the time, place, mood, and style of a production. The Moat Theatre in Naas is 63 years old in its original theatrical form, having first opened as a 125-seat venue in 1963, though the governing Moat Club was formed 72 years ago in 1954. Today, The Moat Theatre is a vibrant theatre and concert venue and an important addition to the cultural and artistic environment in Naas and Co. Kildare.

Creating a Theatre Set
With detailed set design drawings creating a 3D Illustration of the theatre set make it easier for director, producer and set carpenters, builders and decorators to understand where everything will sit on the stage and how the finished look will appear.

New York Skyline Background Flats
For the female version of Neil Simon’s hilarious contemporary comic classic, The Odd Couple the Moat Theatre’s set design required the creation of a series of background flats recreating the Manhattan location featuring the George Washington Bridge in the background which spans the Hudson River. Scenic elements shape how people see and move through an event. They can frame a stage, define separate areas, create a memorable photo opportunity or turn an empty venue into an environment that feels completely different. We look beyond individual pieces to consider their scale, position, finish and relationship with the surrounding architecture. The result feels deliberately placed within the space rather than simply added to it.
